Have we got everything
We’ve spent today, and will spend tomorrow, carefully going through a final checklist to ensure we have everything for our trip.
With a trip to Cairns planned for Saturday to pick up our travel documents and the currencies we’ll need, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab any last-minute items. Since we’re not departing from Cairns, this will be our final chance to get everything sorted.
The list of necessities keeps growing, but we’re keeping the wise adage in mind: “Never test a new item or product on race day.” This makes us hesitant to leave things like purchasing gels in Santiago. The last thing anyone wants on a 1,700-kilometer ride is an upset stomach from an untested gel. The inevitable changes in food and water along the way are going to be enough of a challenge without adding unnecessary risks.
