All packed and ready
While we were anxiously waiting for the arrival of the final package containing Marc’s new bib and jersey, we had decided to leave for Townsville as soon as it arrived. With a delivery date set for the 14th, our plans revolved around its timely arrival.
While out collecting Milo’s medication and extra food for Gibson, we received a notification from Australia Post: the parcel was coming today! We were elated. This meant we wouldn’t have to arrive in Townsville late on Tuesday. Instead, we could drop our motley crew at the kennel and check into the hotel by 2 p.m.
Preparing Marc’s bike for travel is always a bit of a process. To fit it into the bike bag, we need to partially disassemble it—removing the wheels, pedals, and securing the frame to the bag’s inbuilt support. While it’s not a lengthy process, it can be fiddly, and we wanted to avoid doing it after dinner.
Unfortunately, dismantling the bike at home wasn’t an option, as the car needed to accommodate our dogs, the birdcage, and a cat carrier, along with our luggage. Despite the size of the Mazda CX-9, the bike bag cannot stand upright in the back, so the bike has to stay on the bike rack until we’ve dropped off our crew.
As I shut down my computer to pack it away, I can report that we’re all packed and ready to go! Good night, and I’ll update you on our journey to Townsville tomorrow.
